Wicked Tickets: A Great Night Out For Everyone
The phenomenal success of the show has seen the show break many box office records around the world, holding weekly-gross-takings records in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, St. Louis, and London, and the record for biggest opening in the West End (£100,000 in the first hour on sale).
Wicked follows the story of the future Wicked Witch of the West and her relationship with the future Good Witch of the North. The story follows the struggling friendship through their opposing personalities and viewpoints as well as their rivalry over the same love-interest. The reaction to the Wizard’s corrupt government also puts strains on their friendship, which ultimately leads to the Wicked Witch of the West’s public fall from grace. The story is set before and during Dorothy’s arrival from Kansas, and includes references to many of the well-known scenes and dialogue from the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz as a back story.
